Dealing With Strong Emotions

We shouldn't try and deny or repress our emotions. They are a natural part of our human experience.
We should recognise that we are feeling an emotion and accept it, don't fight it. If we fight the emotion it will get stronger.
We should then investigate why we are feeling this way. Try to find a way of helping yourself through the emotion - take 3 breaths, go for a walk, sit quietly, have a cup of tea - whatever works for you.
Finally, understand that you are not the emotion, you are only feeling the emotion. If you think you and the emotion are inseparable, it will be very difficult to let the emotion go.
